I have decided to post some cool online games I found a while ago. I’m going to post one every day. I guess I’ll start with my favourite.
This is also a new game I will be blogging about. (Watch out Club Penguin!) I know I mostly post about Club Penguin, but I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again: this is not a Club Penguin Only blog. If you’ve been here a while, you might remember when I used to post about other things. If you haven’t, try looking around the archive.

Notes:

  • You control a costomized avatar & use the mouse to point in the direction you want to jump/walk/roll/crouch (it depends on the position of the mouse pointer). You can get certain upgrades (like a jetpack, for instance) which will change the way you move. For example, if you wear a jetpack, you fly instead of jumping, & if you use a flying hat you fall slower.
  • In Poptropica you can help people by doing certain missions. There is one mission per island, & there are 2 islands at the moment; Shark Tooth & Early Poptropica. These missions are a bit like puzzles. You have to collect certain objects & use them to get past the next obstacle. It’s hard to explain, I’m making a guide later.
  • There are certain chat rooms in Poptropica. You can’t really say anything. You just click on someone to either ask them a question or challenge them to a game. If you click ‘chat’, 3 random questions appear. Pick which one you like the most & wait for the other person to reply. They get 3 answers & they pick the one they like the best. Not the best chat system ever… If you pick ‘battle’, you can challenge them to either a basketball match, a sudoku match or a sky dive match. In the basketball game, you have to throw a basketball into the hoop 5 times before the opponent does. The hoop moves each time someone scores. In the sudoku match, you have to finish the sudoku puzzle before the other player. You can play this game by yourself too. In the sky dive game, you have to be the first to land on the ground safely. Falling makes you go fast, but if you don’t open your parachute in time you go through the ground. Don’t open the parachute too soon of else the opponent might reach the ground first.
  • Poptropica doesn’t have membership (yet) so instead they advertise in-game. It’s a lot better than flashing ads lagging the game & annoying pop-ups (luckily I use Firefox so I don’t get any pop-ups anyway). To advertise they make a new ‘arcade’ room based on the product they’re advertising. There’s an arcade game in there, again based on the product. If you win, you get a cool free costume with the products logo on it. Normally these costumes have an upgrade. They also have some NPCs (non-playing characters) in there. If you talk to them, the questions that appear over your head have something to do with the product, normally something you wouldn’t say & that sounds very cheesy. Here’s one I made up:
    You: What’s the best bit about Metal Bites™?
    NPC: The crunch you get when you munch!!!!!!!! :roll: I don’t usually talk to them much. They freak me out.
  • There are 6 minigames at the moment:
    Sky Dive (Mulitplayer)
    Hoops (Multiplayer)
    Switch (Singleplayer)
    Sudoku (Singleplayer & Multiplayer)
    Space Billards (Singleplayer)
    The Quest for Dark Berry Loops™ (Singleplayer)

My thoughts: If you have any questions, feel free to ask them, I’ve been reading about Poptropica’s past (it took about a second, it just got out of beta) & I know how to do all the missions. Oh, & one last tip: winning mingames increases your stats. Loosing decreases it. You don’t have to be fair when playing, if the odds look grim, just quit before you loose half a star. ;)

    how did u get a hula dress and lei? im trying to go to the medicene place but he said i cant!! and im trying to go on the roof of the ruins! please help!!
    legoless: The grass skirt is at Booga Bay. The lei is a medallion, I got it by completing the other island’s mission. To get on the roof, climb up the tree a bit (don’t go into another room by climbing up the vine though) & jump onto the roof. Then walk across until you get it.

    i have a feeling time twisted island coming soon since when you go to the place thet have nothing but tree that connect the important place or when you go down the rope to a pit there is a time twisted island avertisement and in the place thet have nothing but tree that connect the important place have an alvin and the chipmunk trailer.I FINISH BOTH ISLAND TOO!!!

    On the picture of the aquaruim the S.S. Nent sumbmarine had some history I looked up maybe your supposed to help it from sinking in time lapse island! It sunk in the info I read about it!

    How do i get the Golden Vase on time tangled island?i cant make the gunpowder explode without something to set it off
    legoless: Just walk back & forth beside the rocks & the gunpowder barrel will be ignited. Then search the cave room for the vase; make sure the tourch doesn’t go out though!

    This is the fourth island for Poptropica. It is still under production.

    It is scheduled to join 2009.

    (Before, it was going to be called “Monster Carnival” ;)

    The Poptropica Wiki says that 24 carrot is coming this month sometime! Sweetness!!!!!

    It also says that 24 carrot isn’t replacing Monster Carnival it is a whole other island!

    I really need some help. Ok, i changed my hair color 2 red by acsident, and i really wanna change it back, but i don’t know how. Is there a way to get my old hair color back?
    legoless: It depends. If it was a colour like red then you just have to make that colour again with the machine. But if it was a colour like black, then I’m afraid you aren’t able to get it again at this moment in time.

    I once entered the garage factory on 24 carrot. It was like an invisible place thingy. Now, it is not letting me go back in! It doesn’t say enter in the invisible garage place! Help!

    Sigh. I’m gonna sound like a huge noob on this, (I just started playing Poptropica today). But…..How do you get a speical jump to get to Da Vincis workshop? All my jumps fall short. Please tell me how..SOON
    legoless: Ok, I normally delete comments like this, but since you’re a friend I’ll help. You need to jump on the pieve of wood tied to the rope that’s nearest to you. Then when you get lifted up, go onto the next wood piece. Then when that goes down the full way, jump to your right. :)

    I accidently changed my hair on 24 carrot , but I don’t know how to switch it back to the origional color, HELP I DON’T WANT TO HAVE GREY HAIR FOREVER!!!
    legoless: Sorry, if your hair was a color like black or brown it can’t be changed back. Try to see if you can make a nicer colour with the smoothie machine. Maybe you can make your favourite colour?

    I read comment 109, and actually you can make your hair brown. You just have to know your color wheel, and you can make it any color besides white, or black, or any color with black or white in them (pink, light blue, etc.)

    legoless: I’m thinking more of a Super Man kind of island. I know that we will get an item that will let us run really fast like the racing suit though. That’s what happened with the propeller cap from one of the last advertisement arcades. In Time Tangles Da Vinci made wings that let you do that.

    For someone like you I’m sure I’m going to sound like a total moron, but I can’t go fast enough to get the apple jacks fast suit. What the Heck! It’s making me crazy. Also, I just started playing this week. I did 24 Carrot and time tangled just fine, but the other 2…when I go down the well, or up the rope, or a couple of other places, it does the loading thing for ever, it never stops and I don’t get an error. Any Ideas…I’d really love the help. Thanks a bunch in advance.
    legoless: Your Apple Jacks problem doesn’t really matter that much, since everything you get from it will disappear along with the garage itself when the advertising time is over. But here’s a little guide I threw together to help you:

    You need to get an apple, a cinnamon stick, a box of Apple Jacks & some kind of pink piece of cereal.

    1. When you begin the race, sprint to the right until you come to a box of Apple Jacks. Walk over it to pick it up.

    2. Go right until you come to a platform of grass on a cliff. Make your way up to the top of the cliff on those platforms.

    3. Run to the right again until you come to a cinnamon stick. Walk over it to pick it up.

    4. Keep going to the right (jump over the gap on the wooden bridge) until you come to a red lever. Click the lever to pull it.

    5. A giant cereal piece will roll down a hill above you & smash some rocks. On top of these rocks is a miniature cereal piece. run back the way you came & pick up the cereal piece.

    6. Run back to the lever. Keep going left until you find an apple on the cliff edge. Collect it.

    7. Fall off the edge of the cliff & you should land right in front of the of the referee. Click him to finish the race.

    Tip: Do all this fast. Try memorising the steps, so you don’t have to keep switching tabs/windows while reading this.

    The reason the rooms don’t load is either because your internet access is slow, or because the Poptropica servers are full. I can’t help with this problem.
